Choose Wisely

There are moments in life when we must choose wisely, because the choices we make today can affect the battles we face tomorrow.

In Exodus 17, Israel was attacked by the Amalekites. Moses told Joshua, “Choose us some men and go out and fight.” Joshua had to make a choice. He couldn't take everyone. He had to choose the right people for the battle. Choose wisely who you fight with.

There is a difference between who is around you and who you have chosen to stand with you. When you're going through a difficult battle, you need people who will pray for you, encourage you, strengthen your faith, and stand beside you when you're tired.

WTD: Be careful who you choose; some people will make the battle harder.

In Exodus, everyone who was chosen had a part to play. Joshua fought in the valley while Moses, Aaron, and Hur stood on the mountain. When Moses became tired, Aaron and Hur held up his hands. Sometimes while you're fighting in the valley, you need somebody praying for you on the mountain.

That's what godly relationships look like. You don't just need people who celebrate you when you win; you need people who will hold you up when you're weak.

Ecclesiastes 4:10 reminds us, “If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.”

But one more choice matters most, and that’s to choose God.

Joshua had warriors. Moses had Aaron and Hur. But Israel needed God. We all need Him! We all have battles nobody else knows about, but God does.

So, as you move forward, choose wisely. Choose the people who will help you stand. Choose the voices that point you toward God. And above all, choose God. Because when God is with you, you may have to fight the battle, but you don't have to fight it alone.
